      The New York Times has announced the next addition to its Games catalog after the ongoing popularity of Wordle, and it's focused on math. Digits requires players to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with numbers. You can currently play its beta version for free online.

      In Digits, players are provided with a target number to match. You're given six numbers and can utilize them with operations to get as close to the target as possible. Not all numbers need to be used, so this game is designed to challenge your math skills as you combine numbers to formulate accurate equations.

      Players receive a five-star rating for an exact match with the target number, three stars if they are within 10, and one star for being within 25. At present, players can also try out five different puzzles with progressively larger numbers as well. I completed today's puzzle, and found it to be an enjoyable number-oriented game for inquisitive individuals who enjoy puzzle games like Threes or other New York Times titles such as Wordle and Spelling Bee.

      In an article introducing Digits and outlining The New York Times Games team's development process, it was noted that the team plans to use this free beta phase to address bugs and evaluate whether to advance into active development, where coding and design finalization occur. Therefore, take advantage of Digits while you can, as The New York Times might decide to discontinue it if they do not receive the desired feedback.
