Here are four alternative phones you can consider instead of the Motorola Razr 2025.
If you're seeking a top-tier folding phone, the new Motorola Razr 2025 is probably a strong contender for you. It delivers the classic Motorola experience at a lower price compared to its counterparts, and as I noted in our Razr 2025 review, it maintains a premium feel, particularly due to its larger battery.
However, folding phones are not suitable for everyone. While the Razr 2025 has made some well-executed compromises, it still doesn't match the premium quality of its more distinguished models. There’s the Razr Plus 2025, which is quite similar to the Razr 2024, and the newly released Razr Ultra 2025, regarded as the best flip phone available at this moment.
If you’re open to alternatives to the Razr 2025, here are five other phones worth considering, along with their advantages.

You can’t discuss flip phones without mentioning the top choice at the moment, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025. It embodies the Ultra concept for flagship phones, and although it lacks dedicated telephoto lenses like its non-folding counterparts, the Razr Ultra 2025 includes everything else you desire in a flip phone.
Powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite that drives many of the leading smartphones, it features the full 8-core version, unlike the less powerful 7-core variant found in slimmer models like the Oppo Find N5. It boasts the largest main display of any flip phone at 7 inches, a substantial 4,700 mAh battery, and dual 50MP cameras that take excellent photos in most lighting.

The 4-inch Cover Display occupies the entire front of the phone and comes equipped with a full array of Motorola's software features, enabling you to use it like a 4-inch smartphone and run any app or widget. The phone integrates a lot of AI from Motorola and Google Gemini, introduces new AI capabilities, features offerings from Microsoft CoPilot and Perplexity preloaded, and includes a three-month free subscription to Perplexity Pro.
If the Motorola Razr 2025 lacks something for you, the Razr Ultra 2025 likely addresses those concerns. The distinct wood finish is also exclusive to Motorola's flagship flip phone.
Google Pixel 9a

If the $700 price of the Razr 2025 is too steep and you appreciate the clean, material design of its interface, you might want to explore the budget-friendly Google Pixel 9a. This model provides the fundamental experience of the flagship Pixel 9 series at a much lower price point.
Starting at $499, it’s $200 less than the Razr 2025 and features a dual-camera system enhanced by Google’s camera technology. Its 48MP main camera performs admirably, while the 13MP secondary camera may produce similar results to the Razr 2025, though it lacks autofocus functionality.

Powered by the flagship Tensor G4, Google’s competitor to the Apple A18 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Pixel 9a shines with a noteworthy 5,100 mAh battery, which is the largest in any Pixel model and 13% larger than the 4,500 mAh battery in the Razr 2025.
Apple iPhone 16 Plus

If you appreciate the Razr 2025’s dimensions and are willing to make some trade-offs, such as the absence of a telephoto camera, while also seeking a similarly large display and battery, you should consider the Apple iPhone 16 Plus. This phone has a dual-camera setup like the Razr 2025 and offers a stylish range of colors reminiscent of Motorola’s latest smartphone.
Battery longevity is a strong factor for the Razr 2025, and the iPhone 16 Plus holds its own in this regard as well. The fast A18 processor is expected to outperform the MediaTek Dimensity 7400X in the Razr 2025. The 48MP main camera and the 12MP ultrawide are fairly comparable to the 50MP and 13MP cameras found in Motorola’s base flip phone.

The iPhone 16 Plus is pricier than the Razr 2025, and there are notable drawbacks, including a lower refresh rate and the absence of an always-on display. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Plus does not possess the impressive factor that the unique design of the Razr 2025 brings, yet it remains a solid choice for those not ready to depart from Apple's ecosystem.
