NYT Strands today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Sunday, May 18
Strands is a new daily puzzle featured by the New York Times. This puzzle offers a more challenging version of the classic word search, requiring sharp observation skills to complete. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands may present challenges on certain days. It's perfectly alright to seek assistance occasionally. If you're finding yourself stuck and need answers for today's Strands puzzle, you can view the solved puzzle below.
How to Play Strands
In each Strands puzzle, your main objective is to locate the hidden “theme words” within the letter grid. You can manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to finalize your selection. When you identify a correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and will no longer be selectable.
If you come across a word that is not a theme word, it’s still beneficial! For every three non-theme words you discover, each being at least four letters long, you'll receive a hint—one of the theme word's letters will be revealed, which you then need to unscramble.
Every letter in the grid is utilized to spell the theme words without any overlaps; each letter is used exactly once.
Each puzzle includes one “spangram,” a unique theme word (or words) that define the puzzle’s theme and stretches across two opposite sides of the board. Once you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The aim is to complete the puzzle promptly while minimizing the use of hints.
