Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni robot vacuum review: exceptional mopping capabilities
MSRP: $1,600.00
“The Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni boasts one of the finest mopping systems ever featured in a robot vacuum.”
Pros
- Innovative mopping technology
- Retractable brushes and mops
- Self-cleaning docking station
- Anti-tangle vacuuming
Cons
- High price
- Too tall to fit under some furniture
Earlier this year, Ecovacs introduced the Deebot X8 Pro Omni, which incorporated a distinctive roller mop system that provided excellent mopping performance. Now, just a few months later, they have released its successor — the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni. This model improves upon the X8 with a new mop-lifting function, an upgraded vacuuming system, and an outstanding anti-tangle design that prevents hair and fibers from clogging the brushes. If you're searching for a robot vacuum that effectively cleans hard floors, the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni is an excellent choice. While it has some minor drawbacks, it should serve as a valuable addition to any smart home due to its premium features.

Having tested numerous robot vacuums over the years, I can confidently say that the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni delivers one of the top mopping experiences on the market. Known as “OZMO Roller Mopping Technology,” it features a large roller brush located at the bottom of the vacuum. A series of spray nozzles keeps the mop wet to ensure consistent cleaning across your floors, while a scraper helps remove dirty water from the mop’s surface. The result is exceptionally shiny floors. With the ability to exert 3,700 Pa of pressure and roll at speeds up to 220 rpm, it tackles almost any stain or spill.
Ecovacs has also equipped the X9 Pro Omni with impressive additional features. The triple-lift system allows the mop, main brush, and side brush to retract as needed. When a spill is detected, both mops retract to remain clean. When carpet is detected, the mop lifts to keep floors dry. Moreover, it includes a “Carpet First” function that enables the vacuum to go around your home, vacuuming with a dry mop before beginning the wet mopping process.
Considering all these features, the end result is a robot vacuum well-suited for cleaning hard floors. It can also move across carpet with dry mops, although it would be even better if it could detach the mop automatically and leave it in the base station while vacuuming—something some competitors are already implementing effectively, preventing mops from contacting carpet.
Vacuuming and self-cleaning

Interestingly, the X9 Pro Omni offers less suction power than its predecessor, the X8 Pro Omni. The previous model had 18,000 Pa, while the new model is rated at 16,600 Pa. However, its vacuuming efficacy remains comparable (if not improved), thanks to the inclusion of BLAST technology. BLAST stands for “Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology,” which combines suction with enhanced airflow. The approach involves utilizing additional airflow to dislodge dust particles and debris, which can then be easily vacuumed without requiring excessive force.
In practice, this system performs exceptionally well. It not only addresses dust and small particles but also effectively picks up clumps of dirt and larger items. It also leaves neat lines on plush carpets, giving your home a “just cleaned” look that many users will appreciate. The side brush does not extend out like some competitors, yet it still does an excellent job of cleaning corners and tight spaces, aided by its advanced navigation capabilities.
Best of all, the onboard AI enables the robot to determine the optimal settings for enhanced cleaning. While there are many options to manually customize its performance through the mobile app, I have found that allowing the robot to operate autonomously often yields the best cleaning results.

Upon completing a cleaning cycle, the robot returns to its dock to recharge and clean itself. The dock washes the mop with hot water, dries it using hot air, and can even dispense a cleaning solution into the robot's water tank for better mopping. The onboard dustbin is emptied into a larger dustbag in the docking station, allowing for 90 days of use before needing a replacement. Additionally, the docking station cleans itself, removing residue collected from the robot during cleaning.
Most of the maintenance tasks are handled automatically. You only need to keep an eye on the clean and dirty water tanks and perform a more thorough cleaning of the tray every 150 days. This level of independence is a significant advantage for robot vacuums.
