It has been nearly two years since the last new episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but Paramount+ has confirmed that the adventures of the Enterprise’s first crew will soon continue.
According to Deadline, Paramount+ has announced that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, July 17. Following this, new episodes will be released weekly until Thursday, September 11. In contrast to most current Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds adopts the one-off episodic style seen in the original series and many of its successor series from the ’90s onward. However, there is an exception for the season 3 premiere, which will conclude the Gorn storyline that began in the season 2 finale.
Last month, Paramount+ released a teaser trailer for season 3 of Strange New Worlds, although it doesn’t provide much in terms of story details aside from hinting at Spock and Christine Chapel seemingly acting on their romantic feelings for one another.
The series stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Martin Quinn, all returning for season 3, alongside special guest star Paul Wesley portraying a young James T. Kirk, the future captain of the Enterprise. This season will also feature guest appearances by Rhys Darby, Patton Oswalt, Cillian O’Sullivan, and Melanie Scrofano.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has already been renewed for a fourth season, which is currently in production. Given that season 3 will air during the Comic-Con season, it’s likely the cast may appear in San Diego in July.
The next series in the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, has yet to receive a release date but has already been renewed for a second season. This series will follow the events of Star Trek: Discovery and will take place in the 32nd century as the first class of Starfleet Academy in a century trains for admission into Starfleet.

**MCU star Jeremy Renner returns in first trailer for Mayor of Kingstown season 3**
On January 1, 2023, Jeremy Renner suffered severe injuries when his snowplow ran over him. Renner sustained nearly 40 broken bones, and it was miraculous that he survived and is now on the mend. Sixteen months later, he is making his comeback with the first trailer for the third season of his Paramount+ original series, Mayor of Kingstown.
It is unclear if the show will address any physical limitations Renner's character, Mike McLusky, may face as a result of Renner's real-life incident. Nevertheless, there are several scenes in the trailer where Mike appears to engage in fights. However, the true struggles he will confront are ones that cannot be solved through physical confrontations.

**The 10 best Star Trek: The Original Series episodes, ranked**
It’s difficult to believe today, but in the late 1960s, the original Star Trek was not regarded as a success. The ambitious science fiction series was frequently on the verge of cancellation and was cut short after just three seasons, despite a planned five-season run.
That said, it’s essential to contextualize Trek’s perceived failure historically, as during that era, most viewers in the U.S. had access to only three television channels. Even a show with low ratings like Star Trek was attracting about 20% of viewers watching TV on a Thursday night, equating to roughly 10 million households. In contrast, the most recent season of HBO’s Succession averaged about 8 million households per week, which is considered a hit by current standards. Star Trek's audience only grew when it entered syndication in the early 1970s, and by the time Star Trek: The Motion Picture released in 1979, it had become a true cultural phenomenon. Today, the Star Trek franchise is viewed as one of Paramount's most valuable assets.
Although it may be overshadowed by its more successful spin-off, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: The Original Series remains impressively relevant for a vision of the future conceived nearly 60 years ago. It's a space adventure series that tackles social and political themes from a perspective that was bold and progressive at the time, shaped by the contemporary civil rights movement, sexual revolution, and the backlash against the Vietnam War. Using science fiction to convey these themes allowed its writers to deliver many subversive messages in an entertaining manner that still resonates decades later—enough for fans to overlook when its concepts or visual effects falter under modern evaluation.
