NYT Strands today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Wednesday, May 7.

Strands is a new daily puzzle introduced by the New York Times. This puzzle offers a more challenging version of the traditional word search, requiring a sharp eye to solve. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands may prove difficult on certain days. It's perfectly fine to seek assistance when needed. If you're having trouble with today’s Strands puzzle, you can find the answers provided below.

      How to play Strands

At the beginning of each Strands puzzle, your objective is to uncover the “theme words” concealed within the letter grid. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; simply double-tap the final letter to confirm. When you identify the correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.

If you discover a word that’s not a theme word, it still aids your progress! For every three non-theme words you find that have at least four letters, a hint will be granted — one letter from a theme word will be revealed, and you'll just need to unscramble it.

Every letter in the grid contributes to spelling the theme words, with no overlaps. Each letter will be utilized exactly once.

Each puzzle includes one “spangram,” which is a special theme word (or words) that aligns with the puzzle’s theme and spans across two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.

The aim is to complete the puzzle swiftly while minimizing the use of hints.

What’s new in May 2024: 7 games that you need to play this month

May 2024 may initially seem like a weak month for gaming. The month’s marquee release is Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, a significant Xbox exclusive and sequel to a 2018 horror action game about a woman experiencing psychosis. Yet, if you enjoy innovative indie titles, this month might just deliver your top game of 2024. Developer Team Ninja has a strong indie lineup with INDIKA, Animal Well, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, and Crow Country, all presenting chilling experiences well ahead of Halloween.

Meanwhile, those who aren't fans of horror games also have exciting titles to anticipate this month, including the revival of a GameCube classic and a Warner Bros. crossover fighting game. As we move into May 2024, here are the games that you should keep in mind, arranged in chronological order.
