If you enjoy Wordle and Connections, Puzzmo might just become your next daily obsession.

If puzzle games like Wordle and Connections have found their way into your routine over the past year, you may have yet another daily fixation on the horizon. Puzzmo is a new platform that adapts the concept of a newspaper puzzle page into a responsive web page compatible with multiple devices. Players can sign up for the free platform now, which also offers a $40 annual subscription for extra features such as experimental games and leaderboards.

This ambitious new endeavor is a collaboration between Orta Therox and Zach Gage, a game designer who has gained recognition over the years for mobile games like Knotwords and Good Sudoku. His latest project has been in development for years and serves as a comprehensive hub for Gage’s puzzles, aimed at surpassing popular sites like The New York Times at their own game.

Move over, Wordle: The New York Times has introduced a new puzzle game.

The New York Times has launched its next title in the Games catalog following the ongoing success of Wordle, and it revolves around math. Digits challenges players to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. You can currently play its beta for free online.

In Digits, players receive a target number to match. They are provided with six numbers and can manipulate them using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division to get as close to the target as possible. Not all numbers need to be used, making this game a true test of your math skills as you create the right equations to reach the target number.

Players will earn a five-star rating for an exact match to the target number, a three-star rating if they come within 10 of it, and a one-star rating for coming within 25 of the target number. Currently, players can also encounter five different puzzles with progressively larger numbers as well. I completed today’s puzzle and found it to be an enjoyable number-based game that should appeal to curious minds who enjoy puzzle games like Threes or other New York Times titles like Wordle and Spelling Bee.

In an article introducing Digits and discussing The New York Times Games team’s development process, The Times reveals that the team plans to use this free beta to address bugs and determine if it’s feasible to advance into a more active development phase “where the game is coded and the designs are finalized.” So, take the opportunity to play Digits while you can, as The New York Times may abandon the project if the feedback isn’t what they’re hoping for.

You can currently play Digits’ beta for free on The New York Times Games website.

Wordle’s eventful year: New York Times analyzes the phenomenon’s major 2022.

If you logged onto Twitter exactly a year ago, you likely remember the moment your feed began filling with gray, yellow, and green boxes. Although it launched in 2021 and gained popularity in December of that year, Wordle transformed into a cultural sensation in early 2022, becoming ubiquitous outside of muted words lists. It was a rare success
