XPG unveils new MARS 980 Gen5 SSD
ADATA's XPG brand, well known for its solutions for gamers and tech enthusiasts, has announced a new line of MARS 980 solid-state drives with PCIe Gen5 support.
These SSDs are designed for tasks related to artificial intelligence, big data processing, and high-performance computing. Read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and an advanced cooling system make them true flagships in their class.
MARS 980 STORM: Maximum power and smart cooling
The flagship of the series, the STORM model, stands out for its hybrid cooling system, which combines liquid and air elements. This is the first SSD of its kind on the market. This approach helps to keep the temperature down by 20% compared to conventional radiators. The device uses the PCIe Gen5 x4 interface and shows read speeds up to 14,000 MB/s, write speeds up to 13,000 MB/s. At the same time, all power is supplied through the M.2 slot, no extra wires. The volume is up to 4 TB, which is quite enough for AI applications, large projects and serious gaming.
MARS 980 BLADE: Compact and silent
The BLADE model is a solution for laptops, mini PCs, and those who don't want to bother with cooling. It's simple: high speed, energy-efficient 6nm controller, and no fan. This keeps the disc cold even in cramped enclosures. It is also suitable for PlayStation 5, if you want to add more memory — up to 4 TB will help you.Image: ADATA Press Office
MARS 980 PRO: the golden mean
If you need power, but without overpaying, it's about the MARS 980 PRO. It also uses the PCIe Gen5 interface and accelerates to 14,000 MB/s per read. The cooling is combined here: an aluminum radiator plus a fan. The temperature is reduced by about 15% compared to passive solutions, and the installation remains simple — powered via M.2. The volume is also up to 4 TB.Such a choice for upgrading a game console or a home PC will be a budget, but high-quality solution.
