It seems that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has received a rating for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Pan European Game Information website, commonly referred to as PEGI, has rated Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the Nintendo Switch 2 — which strongly suggests that the game may be available on the console either at or following its launch on June 5. However, it’s possible that this could be due to an error on the backend of the site, and Ubisoft may not actually plan to port the game to the Switch 2, so it's wise to remain cautious about this information.

PEGI functions similarly to the ESRB in the U.S., and it is in charge of assigning age ratings for video games. While the Assassin’s Creed Shadows page does not specifically mention the Nintendo Switch 2, it appears under the “Most Searched Games” section.

Though not officially confirmed, it seems likely that this information is a legitimate leak. Given the release of games like Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch, age ratings shouldn't pose much of a barrier. Ubisoft has also announced its intention to bring Star Wars Outlaws to the Nintendo Switch 2, making it reasonable to expect that the latest Assassin’s Creed game could follow suit. However, even if Shadows launches on the Switch 2, it may not be available at launch. Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release on September 4, indicating that Shadows might arrive later in the year.

Ubisoft might comment on this leak, although it seems unlikely. Still, having Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the Nintendo Switch 2 would be a nice bonus. Several titles in the series were made available on the original Switch, including the Ezio Collection and Assassin’s Creed III. The Switch 2 should be capable of handling the game, even if the graphics need to be adjusted somewhat.

This underrated Switch 2 feature shows why Nintendo handhelds excel

The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct provided a wealth of information on the new system's distinct hardware and software features. Much of the excitement surrounding the Switch 2 revolves around aspects like GameChat, mouse compatibility for the Joy-Cons, and the Nintendo Switch camera peripheral. However, one feature that’s somewhat under the radar is GameShare. According to the official description, "With GameShare, a new Nintendo Switch 2 feature, players can share and play the same game with others who do not possess the game." It adds that, "If one person has a Nintendo Switch 2 system and a game that supports GameShare, that individual can invite others to play the same game together locally using their Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch system." As someone who owns multiple Switch devices and knows other Nintendo enthusiasts, I find a feature like GameShare appealing. It also reminded me of how critical connectivity has been for Nintendo handhelds historically, from the Game Boy's Link Cable to the DS’ Download Play.
