AMD’s RX 9070 XT quickly secured spots on all the lists for the best graphics cards following its launch, but many gamers continue to seek more options. With inconsistent availability and difficulty finding a GPU at its MSRP, we can only hope that AMD will soon release new GPUs. Fortunately, it appears that AMD has something planned, and recent leaks have revealed some specifications. A notable feature might catch gamers' attention.

VideoCardz has leaked the specifications for the RX 9070 GRE, which stands for “Great Radeon Edition.” In the last generation, the RX 7900 GRE was recognized as one of the best value GPUs, effectively bridging the gap between high-end and mainstream models. This trend may continue in the new generation, but it's essential to remember that this information is based on leaks and remains unconfirmed by AMD.

With that disclosure, let's explore what VideoCardz claims we can anticipate from the RX 9070 GRE. The GPU is said to feature 3,072 stream processors (SPs or cores), indicating that many of the cores will be disabled compared to the RX 9070 XT and non-XT versions, which have 4,096 and 3,584 cores, respectively.

Despite the significant reduction in cores, higher clock speeds may mitigate the impact. The RX 9070 GRE is expected to reach boost clock speeds of 2.79GHz. In terms of memory, it will reportedly include 12GB of GDDR6 RAM with a 192-bit interface. However, there is a drawback — the memory will be clocked at 18Gbps instead of the 20Gbps provided by the RX 9070 XT. Consequently, the bandwidth will be 432GB/s, a decrease from the flagship models that offer 640GB/s.

The RX 9070 GRE might not be available globally at launch. Its predecessor initially debuted only in China, before becoming available worldwide (and gaining unexpected popularity). This may also occur with the new GPU, but it would be beneficial for it to reach the global market soon.

AMD is expected to unveil the RX 9060 XT within the next couple of months. If this happens, the RX 9070 GRE could serve as a nice intermediary between the RX 9070 and the RX 9060 XT. With 12GB of VRAM and a 192-bit bus, it could meet gamers' needs, depending on pricing and availability. We know that 16GB and 8GB cards with a 128-bit bus are not the best options for AAA titles, which could give the GRE GPU an edge.

AMD’s RX 9070 XT may repeat a previous pricing miscalculation

AMD is soon to provide more information regarding the upcoming RX 9070 XT, which could compete with some of the top graphics cards in the mainstream market. More than just specifications, rumors have been swirling about the expected price of the GPU. Recently, a well-known leaker shared insights, suggesting that AMD may slightly undercut Nvidia's pricing.

According to David Huang on X (previously Twitter), the card is anticipated to retail for $699, as a response to a user who predicted a price of $649. VideoCardz reports that AMD aims to target a price below $700 with its new flagship, lending credence to these rumors.

AMD’s RX 9070 XT to potentially rival the performance of RTX 4080

With just a few days left until the official launch of AMD’s new Radeon 9000 graphics cards, early performance benchmarks for the Radeon RX 9070 XT have reportedly been leaked. VideoCardz indicates that AMD conducted a closed-door media briefing where it shared architectural elements and performance metrics for the RX 9070 XT, hinting at a significant performance improvement over prior models, posing substantial competition to Nvidia’s offerings.

The leaked benchmarks suggest that the Radeon RX 9070 XT provides a considerable performance increase over the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, achieving speeds between 42% and 168% faster at 4K resolution with 'ultra' settings across more than 30 games. On average, the RX 9070 XT surpasses the RX 7900 GRE by 38% at 1440p and 42% at 2160p. However, in titles that heavily rely on ray tracing—such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Hitman 3—performance gains reportedly peak between 164% and 168%.

AMD’s RX 9070 XT might be affordably priced, but that may still be insufficient

Over a month since the initial announcement at CES 2025 (if it can be termed an announcement), details about AMD's RDNA 4 lineup remain sparse. Launch dates are set
