The OCCT Stress Testing tool is now available for Linux

The developers of the popular OCCT hardware stress testing and monitoring tool have officially unveiled its Linux version. After a long time of work and thorough testing, the program has left the beta stage and is now available to users of Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Red Hat and Arch Linux.

As in the Windows version, OCCT for Linux allows for comprehensive stress tests of the processor, graphics card, and RAM. The program helps to check the system for stability under high loads and provides advanced monitoring capabilities, from temperature and voltage to real—time power consumption.

A solution for servers and data centers

Special attention is paid to server systems. OCCT allows you to test multiple graphics cards simultaneously, including modern models like NVIDIA H100, and identify potential problems even before the servers are up and running. It is an important tool for data centers, engineers, and manufacturers of server equipment.

What is important is that the program is free for personal use, although some functions are available only in professional and corporate versions. The OCCT Personal license gives you access to the Windows and Linux versions at once.

       Limitations of the Linux version

It is worth noting that the Linux version of OCCT has technical limitations compared to Windows. In particular, monitoring capabilities are limited due to the lack of proprietary drivers: the program uses open system interfaces and the lm-sensors subsystem. In addition, the application cannot be saved to the /tmp directory under the name OCCT — this causes a crash due to the limitations of the temporary directory structure of the program.

The developers promise that the functionality will be expanded in the coming months. And the next step will be to add SSD tests, which will make OCCT a universal tool for checking the entire system.

However, as it became known recently: "we don't need it at all, this Linux is yours"! Andrey Vinogradov found out that the Russian military-industrial complex worked on Windows until the second half of 2024.
