NYT Strands for today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Wednesday, April 9.

Strands is a newly launched daily puzzle from the New York Times. Offering a more challenging twist on the traditional word search, this puzzle requires a sharp eye to complete.

Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can prove to be quite tough on some days. There's no harm in seeking assistance occasionally. If you encounter difficulties and are looking for the answers to today's Strands puzzle, refer to the solved puzzle below.

      How to play Strands

Each Strands puzzle begins with the objective of locating the “theme words” concealed within the grid of letters. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to confirm. When you identify a correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and will no longer be selectable.

Finding a word that isn’t a theme word is still beneficial! For every three non-theme words you uncover that contain at least four letters, you'll receive a hint — one of the theme word's letters will be revealed and you'll simply need to unscramble it.

Every letter in the grid is utilized to form the theme words, without any overlap. Each letter will be used exactly once.

Each puzzle includes one “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that defines the puzzle’s theme and spans two opposite sides of the board. Upon finding the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.

The objective is to finish the puzzle swiftly while relying on hints as little as possible.

Winter Burrow finds the cozy middle ground between Don’t Starve and Mouse Guard

When discussing survival crafting games, popular 3D sandbox titles like Minecraft, Rust, or Valheim often come to mind first. However, I’ve frequently found just as much enjoyment from survival and crafting games inspired by Don't Starve. While Klei Entertainment's 2013 indie classic is quite challenging, many games inspired by it have taken a more relaxed approach. I enjoy unwinding, exploring charming worlds, and crafting items in games like Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story or Cozy Grove.

Now, Pine Creek Games' Winter Burrow will fill the cozy survival-crafting gap. During a recent ID@Xbox digital event I attended, Pine Creek CEO and Creative Director Benjamin Salqvist openly discussed survival games like Don't Starve, highlighting that Winter Burrow will offer a more relaxed and less stressful take on that formula.
