Record Store Day 2025 is just around the corner this weekend, and vinyl lovers are eagerly reviewing this year’s exclusive releases to enhance their collections. For newcomers to the vinyl scene looking for one of the top entry-level turntables available, Audio-Technica has unveiled an exciting RSD exclusive — a golden version of its popular turntable.
Indeed, everything that glitters is gold. The Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT has consistently ranked as one of the best turntables for beginners (including our own list, before it was outshined by the superior AT-LP70X). To commemorate RSD, the esteemed audio brand has produced a limited quantity of the AT-LP60XBT-GD (the "GD" stands for gold, of course), which will be available at independent record stores across the United States for a price of $199, $40 less than the standard model. “This exclusive release aims to encourage record enthusiasts to support the independent stores that are essential to the vinyl community,” remarked Kurt Van Scoy, Vice President of Products, Business Alliances, and Marketing at Audio-Technica. “Independent record shops are crucial in preserving vinyl culture, and we are proud to contribute to this initiative, highlighting their ongoing importance to music fans.”

Over the years, newcomers to vinyl have been drawn to the AT-LP60XBT not only for its great value but also for its straightforward assembly, setup, and operation. With features like auto start and stop, a speed-selection button for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records, and a tonearm lift button, the learning curve is virtually non-existent.
Equipped with a built-in phono preamp, which amplifies the weak signal from the needle, it easily connects to everything from stereo integrated amplifiers to powered speakers. If you prefer Bluetooth audio, the AT-LP60XBT-GD also supports wireless connectivity with SBC and aptX Bluetooth codecs.
As per Audio-Technica’s website, the AT-LP60XBT-GD will be available at around 90 independent record stores across the U.S. (you can find the list online), but the company recommends contacting your local store before visiting.

Dolby Atmos finally comes to Apple Music for Windows
Nearly four years ago, Apple Music integrated Dolby Atmos, but Windows subscribers have just now gained access to this feature. A recent Apple support document (via MacRumors) confirms that this limitation has been lifted.
Dolby Atmos is an audio technology that enhances sound by creating three-dimensional soundscapes. Unlike conventional audio systems that rely on fixed channels or speakers, Dolby Atmos employs an object-based audio approach, treating sound as individual "objects" that can be placed anywhere in a three-dimensional space, even above the listener. This enables sound engineers and content creators to strategically position audio elements, resulting in a more immersive listening experience.
