Wes Anderson makes a comeback with his latest film, showcased in the trailer for The Phoenician Scheme.

Focus Features has finally unveiled the trailer for The Phoenician Scheme, the latest film from Oscar-winning director Wes Anderson.
Benicio del Toro stars in The Phoenician Scheme as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of Europe's wealthiest individuals. Zsa-zsa is the father of ten children — nine boys and a daughter. The only girl, Liesl (Mia Threapleton), is a nun and Zsa-zsa’s only heir to the family's fortune. Michael Cera appears as their tutor, Bjorn.
As with many of Anderson's films, The Phoenician Scheme boasts a star-studded cast, including Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, and Hope Davis.
Anderson directs The Phoenician Scheme from a screenplay he co-authored with his frequent collaborator Roman Coppola. He produces the film alongside Steven Rales, Jeremy Dawson, and John Peet.

This marks Anderson's first feature film direction since 2023's Asteroid City, which was released in June 2023 and garnered critical acclaim, earning $54 million against a $25 million budget.
In 2024, Anderson also wrote and directed The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More, an anthology film comprising four short stories based on Roald Dahl's works. He won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, marking his first Academy Award.
The Phoenician Scheme is expected to premiere next month at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where Anderson has previously showcased several of his films, including 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom, 2021’s The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City.
Focus Features plans to release The Phoenician Scheme in limited theaters on May 30, 2025, with a wider release following on June 6.
