Retroid / Retroid
The Retroid Pocket Mini was eagerly awaited, but recent issues with the screens have disappointed many users, with some unable to play their desired games at all. In response, Retroid has announced an extended return period from March 8 to March 14, but with a significant limitation: only 200 international customers can take advantage of this offer. Following that, returns will no longer be accepted. Retroid shared this information today on its Discord channel. Several users have experienced compatibility problems with specific filters that interfere with scanlines, leading to an unsatisfactory viewing experience. Technically, the device outputs at a resolution lower than the claimed 960p and stretches the image to fit the screen.
While many users may not notice or care about this issue, those desiring an authentic retro experience have raised concerns. It appears that users not utilizing CRT or gridline filters will have minimal issues, but anyone attempting to use filters to achieve a certain aesthetic will be disappointed with the results.
Retroid requests that "only those truly affected by screen-related issues" take advantage of this return option, noting the financial implications of the returns. In exchange, all Retroid Pocket Mini users will receive a $10 stackable coupon applicable for the upcoming Retroid Flip2 and Retroid Classic.
The announcement sparked considerable controversy, with many fans expressing frustration over the company releasing a product with defective screen hardware, while others feel that the $10 compensation is an insult to loyal customers. Retroid is a well-known producer of handheld gaming consoles, primarily aimed at retro gaming enthusiasts.

Celeste composer gives fans a new glimpse at cancelled Earthblade
Lena Raine, the composer for Celeste and the unfinished Earthblade, has released the soundtrack on Bandcamp. You can stream it for free or purchase it for $7, with 50% of the proceeds going to a non-profit organization. Although it's not the same as being able to play Earthblade, Raine describes the music as "highly dynamic" and designed to reflect and align with the game's emotional journey.
Raine mentions that the soundtrack draws significant influence from composers such as Vangelis, Joe Hisaishi, and Yoko Kanno, with much inspiration coming from classic anime like "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" and "Cowboy Bebop."
