“The 2025 Asus ROG Flow Z13 offers remarkable speed for creators and is also impressively fast for gamers.”
Pros
- Robust build quality
- Unified gaming design
- Superb productivity and creative capabilities
- Strong tablet gaming performance
- Exceptional IPS display
- Very good keyboard
Cons
- High price point
- Slightly thick and heavy
- Gaming performance is not an upgrade
Asus has crafted the most powerful gaming tablet available, possibly the only serious gaming tablet on the market. It vastly differs from typical detachable 2-in-1 laptops that prioritize productivity and media consumption. My experience with the 2024 Flow Z13 revealed that this tablet targets modern games capable of reaching playable frame rates.
Interestingly, while the CPU has seen a substantial enhancement, the GPU choices have been narrowed to one: the integrated AMD Radeon 8060S graphics, compared to the top-tier Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 from before. During my assessments, this makes the Flow Z13 significantly faster for all tasks except gaming, where the performance is at best a slight lateral move.

Currently, there are three versions of the 2025 ROG Flow Z13 available on the Asus online store. The base model is priced at $2,100 and comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen AI MAX 390 chipset, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 13.4-inch QHD+ IPS display (the only option). Upgrading to the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 chipset adds $200, while the top-tier configuration featuring a substantial 128GB of RAM costs $2,800.
This is pricey, especially when compared to the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 that starts at $1,000. However, the performance you get with this device is unmatched by other tablets.
Design
If you're seeking a tablet for its lightweight and portable nature for productivity tasks, the ROG Flow Z13 may not be the ideal choice. It measures thicker at 0.59 inches and weighs 2.65 pounds, significantly heavier than Microsoft’s Surface Pro 11, which is only 0.37 inches thick and weighs just 1.97 pounds. Adding the detachable keyboard, which has become heavier in this version, definitely makes it feel substantial. Nonetheless, if you are in the market for a gaming device, its weight and portability are quite commendable.
In terms of aesthetics, this device is unmistakably an ROG gaming laptop. The design is all-black, featuring sharp lines and aggressive vents for effective heat dissipation. The back showcases numerous ROG design elements alongside a fold-out kickstand reminiscent of the Surface Pro that works efficiently, also featuring a cutout that reveals RGB lighting showcasing part of the internal components. This lighting is customizable, though it won’t be visible during use — but your gaming friends will surely notice it.
Built solidly as with other premium laptops, it utilizes high-density aluminum with two anodizing layers and a soft-touch, anti-fingerprint surface. It’s well-sealed, which differs from larger gaming laptops that often offer upgradable components.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The detachable keyboard has seen slight improvements, featuring larger keycaps and customizable single-zone RGB lighting through the ROG Armory Crate app. Its layout is satisfactory, with distinct arrow keys, and the switches are deep and responsive, making it suitable for gamers who prefer not to use a mechanical keyboard. The keyboard tilts at a comfortable angle similar to the Surface Pro 11 Type Cover, allowing for a pleasant
