NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Tuesday, March 4.
Connections is among the top puzzle games offered by the New York Times. The game challenges players to categorize a collection of 16 words into four hidden groups by determining how the words are related. Every night at midnight, the puzzle resets, with each new puzzle presenting a different level of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, players can track their winning streaks and compare scores with friends.
Some puzzles are more challenging than others, akin to popular NYT Games like The Mini and Strands. If you find today’s puzzle a bit tricky, you can refer to our Connections tips and tricks guide for helpful strategies or check the hints for today’s puzzle below. Should you still be stuck, we’ll provide today’s answers at the end.

You can enjoy Connections on the New York Times website or via the NYT Games app available on iOS or Android.
In Connections, a grid of 16 words will be displayed, and your task is to sort these words into four sets of four by recognizing the links between them. These sets could include themes such as video game franchise titles, book series sequels, hues of red, names of chain restaurants, etc.
There may be words that appear to fit multiple categories, but there is only one definitive answer. You can shuffle the grid and rearrange the words to help clarify potential connections.
Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is the easiest to identify, followed by the green, blue, and purple groups.
Select four words and click Submit. If you are correct, those four words will be removed from the grid, and the connecting theme will be revealed. If you guess incorrectly, it will count as a mistake. You are limited to four mistakes before the game ends.

Who is in charge of editing the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles for The New York Times since 2020, is the daily editor for Connections.
“A few months ago, a new task was assigned to me: Create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had just been approved and was looking for an editor,” Liu mentioned in an article describing her process in June 2024. "Most of my experience has been with crosswords, and I was eager for the opportunity to try something new. I've relished learning how puzzle editing unfolds once a game is approved and understanding how our team integrates into a larger framework."
On the one-year anniversary of the launch of Connections earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok about her favorite puzzles up to this point:
