If you own a Google Pixel phone, you may have encountered some problems with the “Now Playing” feature, which could malfunction or fail to operate. Thankfully, a solution is on the horizon and is anticipated to be released in the next few days. A recent update on Google’s Issue Tracker (shared on Reddit) suggests that the issue affecting Pixel's “Now Playing” has been addressed, with the fix scheduled for inclusion in an upcoming software update, likely the upcoming March Pixel Drop. The bug impacts anyone with a Pixel 6 or newer models, including the Pixel 9 series. Depending on the specific model, the feature may fail to identify songs or may not function at all.

The “Now Playing” feature on Google Pixel phones is designed to offer users a seamless and private method for identifying music that is playing nearby. This functionality primarily relies on on-device processing, utilizing a locally stored database to recognize songs without needing to continuously send audio data to external servers, emphasizing user privacy. When activated, Now Playing automatically shows the title and artist of any song detected on the Pixel’s lock screen, allowing for instant music identification without requiring any user action. It also maintains a history of identified songs, enabling users to revisit previous identifications and mark their favorites.

According to Android Authority, the March Pixel Drop will include more than just a fix for the “Now Playing” feature. It should also address issues with a glitchy back gesture on Pixel devices and implement general performance and stability enhancements. Furthermore, it could finally introduce a long-anticipated battery charging limit feature, customizable “Do Not Disturb” schedules known as Modes, home screen icon shape customization, and more.

It remains unclear why Google took so long to resolve the “Now Playing” issue, but it is reassuring to see that a solution is finally on the way.

The Pixel 9a has leaked again, this time as part of an unintended glimpse in a Galaxy S25 Edge leak video. The leak occurred in a video posted on YouTube, which predominantly showcased the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, but the Pixel 9a was visible for a few seconds. The video, uploaded by YouTuber Alexis Garza (known as @technologiaconalexis), has since been removed, but as is often the case on the Internet, it’s difficult to truly erase content. Observant fans managed to capture screenshots of the YouTube short before its removal. While the lighting is less than optimal and the resolution is not the best, the image still provides a clear view of the upcoming device. Notably, the flash cutout appears larger than anticipated, while the camera itself seems comparatively small.

The Pixel 10’s model number may have leaked, which could indicate its impending approval and possible release in about six months. Although the headlines today may be dominated by the launch of the iPhone 16e, a GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) entry appears to have revealed the official model numbers for the Pixel 10 lineup. Initial reports suggest at least four different models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, according to SmartPrix.com. The only model not accounted for is the Pixel 10A, which is expected to be introduced later this year.

Google is making it more difficult to accidentally dial 911 with the Pixel Watch. While the Pixel's Emergency SOS feature is undoubtedly beneficial for personal safety, it may lead to unwanted situations if activated by mistake—such as sending all twelve emergency contacts an inappropriate video. An update to the Emergency SOS feature on Pixel Watches aims to reduce such incidents. Announced by Google at the end of January, the update is currently being rolled out to users. If the watch crown is pressed five times, instead of directly initiating a call to 911, users will be prompted to hold their screen for three seconds before the call is made.
