The Wonder Woman game has been canceled following Warner Brothers' decision to close down three studios.
Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. has revealed the closure of three of its video game studios: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. Additionally, the company is canceling the forthcoming Wonder Woman game. They released a statement addressing this decision.
“We have had to make some very tough choices in reorganizing our development studios and investments to focus on creating the best games possible based on our key franchises — Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones. After thorough consideration, we will be closing three of our studios — Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. This represents a strategic shift and is not a reflection of the teams or the talent within them. The development of Monolith’s Wonder Woman video game will no longer proceed.”
“Our goal was to offer players and fans the highest quality experience for this iconic character, but unfortunately, that is no longer achievable within our strategic goals. This decision is challenging, as we appreciate Monolith’s rich history of delivering thrilling fan experiences through outstanding games. We deeply respect the dedication of the three teams and are grateful to all employees for their contributions. While today is difficult, we remain focused and excited about returning to creating high-quality games for our dedicated fans, developed by our world-class studios, and steering our Games business back to profitability and growth in 2025 and beyond.”

Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has confirmed the announcement, referencing an internal memo. This news follows last month’s report by Schreier indicating that developing the Wonder Woman game had already cost Warner Bros. over $100 million and it was still years away from release. According to Bloomberg, JB Perrette, the head of games streaming for Warner Bros., wrote in the memo: “The quality of too many of our new releases has fallen short. We must implement significant changes to our portfolio/team structure to allocate the necessary resources for a ‘fewer but bigger franchises’ strategy.”
Monolith Studios has been a significant player in the gaming industry for 31 years, with a portfolio that includes titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Player First Games is known for Hogwarts Legacy, MultiVersus, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, among others, and was acquired by Warner Bros. in July 2024. Recently, Warner Bros. Discovery shut down Player First Games’ free-to-play title MultiVersus due to its underperformance, adding to a series of closures and re-launches. The president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, David Haddad, who held the position for 12 years, also stepped down last month.

You can currently try an innovative new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on Steam
Steam Next Fest is here, and you'll likely be inundated with video game demos. There are numerous promising indie titles available for free during the event, and we will be sharing recommendations as we discover standout games. If you’re looking for a place to start, check out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown.
The Turtles' latest adventure is unlike any they’ve experienced before. It’s not a traditional beat-em-up but a turn-based strategy game developed by Strange Scaffold, known for I Am Your Beast. While the tactics genre may seem like an unusual fit for our reptilian heroes on the surface, it surprisingly works very well. This is due to a fresh take on the genre that allows players to engage more actively during a single turn. It’s a fast-paced tactics game that feels spiritually connected to the Turtles’ arcade roots in ways you might not expect.
