Jon Bernthal set to star in Punisher special for Disney+ and Marvel.
Netflix
Jon Bernthal has more narratives to share as the Punisher. According to EW, Bernthal will return to the role of Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, for a Marvel special on Disney+. Reinaldo Marcus Green will direct the special based on a screenplay he is co-writing with Bernthal. “It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story,” Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, told EW. “It’s so exciting.”
Bernthal is also set to return as the Punisher in season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the Punisher special is planned for release in 2026, alongside season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. This special will be part of the Marvel Studios Special Presentations line, which has already seen the release of two specials on Disney+: Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Bernthal made his debut as Frank Castle in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil. Castle transforms into the relentless vigilante known as the Punisher after his family is murdered by gang members. He later starred in The Punisher, which aired for two seasons on Netflix from 2017 to 2019.
Disney's focus remains on integrating Netflix’s Marvel characters into the MCU. Characters like Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin are making the transition from Netflix’s Daredevil to Daredevil: Born Again, which is set to premiere on March 4 on Disney+. With Matt Murdock back in the MCU, it’s likely that Marvel will explore including more of Daredevil’s allies from The Defenders, such as Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld criticizes Kevin Feige, ending his collaboration with Marvel.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld is parting ways with Marvel. Liefeld has ended his 30-year relationship with Marvel Comics. He is well-known for co-creating iconic Marvel characters such as Deadpool and Cable. Liefeld announced his decision during a recent episode of his podcast, Robservations.
In the podcast, Liefeld mentioned that the July premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in New York was the turning point for his exit from Marvel. Allegedly, he and his family were not invited to the afterparty of the premiere, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige along with other Disney executives did not recognize him on the red carpet. “It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me,” Liefeld said on his podcast regarding the lack of an afterparty invitation.
Liefeld continued with his grievances, noting that press photos of him and his family with Disney creatives at the premiere were taken as a courtesy but believed the company had no plans to use them. When he inquired about the photos, a publicist informed him that they had been deleted. Eventually, images of Liefeld appeared in Disney’s Getty press portal.
