OpenAI has temporarily lifted the restrictions on your usage limits for ChatGPT Work and Codex.
The 5-hour usage limit has been lifted for the time being, your usage counter has just been reset, and GPT 5.6 Sol is about to be less demanding on your allowance.
OpenAI has been rapidly releasing new updates lately. Just days ago, the company introduced its GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna models to the public, and now it has another update that will delight users even further.
The main change is that the 5-hour usage limit for ChatGPT Work and Codex is temporarily removed for all Plus, Business, and Pro plans. If you’ve ever found yourself in the middle of a long work session and encountered the limit message at the most inconvenient time, this update is for you.
It's important to emphasize that this change is temporary, so consider it a temporary relief rather than a permanent adjustment.
What’s new with GPT 5.6 Sol?
The second update focuses on efficiency. OpenAI is implementing changes that will enhance the efficiency of GPT 5.6 Sol overall, which should result in less usage being consumed for the same tasks. Simply put, your usage should stretch further than it did previously.
The last 48 hours of Codex and ChatGPT Work have been quite eventful! Three key updates:– The temporary removal of the 5-hour usage limit for all Plus, Business, and Pro plans– Implementation of changes to improve the efficiency of GPT 5.6 Sol across the board– Tibo (@thsottiaux) July 12, 2026
The company has not provided specific numbers yet. In a post on X, Tibo, a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI, mentioned that the exact impact is still being assessed and will be shared later, so it remains unclear whether these changes represent a minor adjustment or a significant improvement.
Is your usage counter resetting?
The third bit of news is the one you'll notice right away. OpenAI is resetting the usage counter within an hour of the announcement, which means your counter starts anew. If you had already maxed out your allowance today, this is a welcome surprise.
Combining the lifted cap with the efficiency improvements, you’re looking at the most generous version of ChatGPT Work and Codex we’ve seen in some time. The downside, as always, is that we cannot be sure how long this window of opportunity will last.

Copilot could soon assist in diagnosing issues with your PC
A new PC Insights feature will aid in identifying what's causing your PC to lag, although Copilot itself may be a significant contributor to the problem.
Copilot's next capability involves diagnosing your PC's issues, but the twist is that the assistant handling the diagnosis might itself be part of the problem. Windows Latest reports that Microsoft is testing a new feature called PC Insights, which will allow you to ask the AI assistant natural language questions about your computer's hardware and storage, sparing you the need to sift through Task Manager or Settings. The feature is expected to enable users to ask questions such as, "Do I have enough space for a 100GB game?" with Copilot checking the available storage to provide an answer. Users will also be able to inquire about CPU usage, battery health, and more to help diagnose problems.

This app provides your Mac with a music player you’ll genuinely enjoy using.
Apple Music on the Mac is unsatisfactory. Liqoria offers a solution and integrates well with Spotify and YouTube as well.
The Apple Music app on Mac does not meet expectations. I’m not a fan of its design or functionality, and Apple could benefit from taking cues from Spotify to enhance the app’s modernity and usefulness. Until that happens, we’re stuck with an unsatisfactory app experience.
That’s why I prefer not to use the Apple Music app on my Mac and instead rely on third-party applications that allow me to control music. Today, I’m highlighting one of the newest apps I came across, called Liqoria, which might be the only music player app you’ll ever need.
Anthropic is offering Claude Fable 5 for free for a limited time.
You can experience Claude Fable 5 at no cost – but don’t delay.
Anthropic is making it easier for paying subscribers to test its latest AI model without any additional expense. The company has announced a limited-time promotion allowing users on eligible paid plans to access Claude Fable 5 at no extra charge until July 19, 2026. However, there is a caveat: the model isn’t completely unlimited, and once you reach a usage cap, you’ll either need to start paying or switch to another Claude model.
The promotion comes as competition in the AI assistant market becomes more fierce. OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic are all striving to attract users to their latest flagship models, often utilizing free
