      Which features require a new device?

To access Apple’s most advanced on-device AI model, you need either an iPhone 17 Pro, an iPhone Air, an iPad with M4 and 12GB of RAM, or a Mac with M3 and 12GB of RAM. The standard iPhone 17 doesn’t qualify because it has only 8GB of RAM, while Apple Intelligence needs 12GB for optimal performance.

      As a result, functions such as enhanced dictation accuracy and the ability to adjust Siri’s voice tone and speed are only available on Apple’s latest and most expensive devices. Everyone else has to settle for a limited version that relies on Apple’s cloud servers, making it slower than the on-device version.
