At the WWDC 2026, Apple demonstrated how Apple Intelligence is being integrated into the Home app. While the announcements regarding Siri AI garnered the most attention, these updates to the Home app could significantly enhance your everyday life. Here’s a summary of the features coming to the Home app with the iOS 27 update.
Overwhelmed by notifications?
For those with numerous smart home devices, it's easy to find yourself inundated with notifications. While they provide essential updates, they can also create a cluttered experience. Apple is addressing this issue by utilizing Apple Intelligence to group related notifications as a single event.
As a result, instead of receiving ten individual alerts, you will now receive one notification that refreshes as the event unfolds. Although seemingly minor, this change will greatly reduce clutter on your Lock Screen.
Understanding your camera footage better
This is the feature that excites me the most. The Home app can now leverage Apple Intelligence to analyze recorded videos from your compatible HomeKit cameras and create summaries of the events captured.
With the ability to comprehend the video content, it can retrieve relevant footage from all your cameras and compile it for a comprehensive view. This is a fantastic function that everyone will find valuable.
You’ll also have the ability to search through your camera footage based on what was recorded. Before you even start typing, the Home app will present the most relevant clips at the top of the search results. If you're looking for a specific event, such as a package delivery, you can locate it across multiple cameras within seconds.
Additionally, you can watch your recorded videos in enhanced detail with 4K resolution on compatible cameras. These are all fantastic features, and I am eager to try them out.

Google says Nest cameras can now identify and track your pets at home
Google's new Pet Memory feature allows compatible Nest cameras to recognize pets by name instead of just by species. Google Home is enhancing its cameras' capabilities to provide more specific recognition for the animals in your house. The Pet Memory function, a new component of Gemini for Home, enables compatible cameras to identify a pet by name after the owner registers that pet's name and type through Ask Home. This update is compatible with indoor Nest cameras and select models equipped with Gemini technology. Once activated, Google Home can send personalized alerts when a recognized pet enters a room or appears in the camera history.
Anker Solix S2000 can keep your fridge running throughout long blackouts and it's now available for purchase
Anker SOLIX S2000 launches at $680, providing 35 hours of fridge backup with OptiSave Technology.
Power outages highlight our dependence on electricity. Anker aims to address this with the Solix S2000, a new portable power station now available for purchase on Ankersolix.com and Amazon at a launch price of $679.99, reduced from the regular price of $1,199.99. The standout feature claims to offer up to 35 hours of uninterrupted power for refrigerators from a single charge.
Google's first new smart speaker in six years may finally have a release date
Google's self-imposed Spring 2026 deadline has passed without any announcements.
Since unveiling its Gemini-powered Home Speaker in October 2025, Google has remained unusually silent. I anticipated that the device would be showcased at I/O 2026—yet that did not occur either. However, a product page on Best Buy Canada has recently revealed (or leaked) a release date, suggesting that the wait may soon be over.
