An AI agent that can access a customer's purchase history from Salesforce CRM but fails to deliver the appropriate product page, help article, or marketing message in real-time is not fully effective. Contentful’s architecture allows for this dynamic content assembly by storing information as structured data independent of its presentation.

Founded in 2013 by Sascha Konietzke and Paolo Negri, Contentful was developed out of frustration with traditional CMS platforms that were unable to supply content to mobile applications, having been designed for managing individual web pages on single servers. The integration will allow Contentful to operate natively within Salesforce’s Customer 360, facilitating what the companies term “dynamic content orchestration,” which will create personalized 1:1 experiences tailored to context, channel, language, and business rules. This unified content layer across email, web, and mobile will reduce the current fragmentation that forces enterprises to use separate content systems for different channels.

Contentful represents the latest in a series of acquisitions by Salesforce aimed at establishing a comprehensive AI agent infrastructure. The company finalized its $8 billion acquisition of Informatica in late 2025 for data integration, along with acquisitions of Momentum for conversation intelligence, Qualified for AI-driven sales engagement, and Cimulate for digital experience simulation. This trend aligns with a broader industry movement in which enterprise platforms are acquiring specialized AI capabilities instead of developing them internally.
