Insights from the GLOBSEC Forum 2026: The dual directions for Europe’s future.
Prague, late May. The GLOBSEC Forum 2026, now in its 21st iteration, attracted over 2,000 attendees, 270 speakers, and a comprehensive schedule of discussions surrounding AI, cybersecurity, and digital trust. The European tech firm Nebi joined the forum as an official Content Partner, allowing us to engage in meaningful conversations and reflect on the current state of affairs over three days.
A common sense of purpose
A notable highlight was the evident alignment among participants. Throughout various sessions and discussions, there was a shared recognition of the necessity for Europe to accelerate its technological advancements, viewing this not as a distant ambition but as an immediate priority.
This prompts a significant question: might much of the expertise and capability that Europe requires already reside within the private sector? Companies have dedicated years to developing solutions in AI, cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and enterprise technology at an advanced level.
This situation suggests two potential pathways forward. One approach is to examine and scale what businesses have already created, which is a significantly quicker route. The alternative is to cultivate new capabilities from scratch—an admirable but lengthy investment. Determining which route Europe chooses is arguably the most pressing issue currently at hand.
Where the dialogue becomes tangible
The composition of the forum was as significant as its agenda. Prominent companies such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, Palo Alto Networks, and HarrisX took part in discussions regarding the future of European technology. This blend of large-scale enterprise and policy expertise creates an environment where the “faster path” becomes a viable option rather than merely a topic of conversation.
One of the discussions emerged during a side session co-hosted by Nebi, focusing on artificial intelligence and the rising influence of deepfakes in today’s digital landscape. This session convened participants interested in trustworthy technology, responsible AI growth, and the challenges posed by synthetic media and misinformation.
We recognize that the tools to tackle these issues are already available. What remains is a deeper mutual understanding between those developing these tools and those who need to implement or regulate them. This is the dialogue we aimed to engage in, and we believe it should continue well beyond the forum itself.
What we are bringing back
We departed Prague with more than just inspiration; we gained a clearer insight into where genuine readiness for action lies and who the right individuals are for continuing these important conversations. The GLOBSEC Forum effectively highlights this, partly due to the high-ranking and diverse attendees it attracts, and partly because three days of focused discussions can clarify matters more swiftly than months of isolated meetings.
For Nebi, this underscores the value of our participation. Our goal was not merely to attend a significant event but to engage in the conversation that bridges existing solutions with those who can effectively utilize them. If Europe opts for “the faster path,” such dialogues are where it will begin.
