LG announces pricing for the 2025 G5 and C5 OLED models.

To kick off the 2025 OLED TV launch schedule, LG has revealed the pricing and availability for its two most popular television series—the premium G5 and the slightly lower-tier C5. Historically, both series have consistently made it onto our best TVs list, and after our in-person evaluation of them last week at LG’s reviewer workshop in New Jersey, we anticipate they will continue to impress.

The most significant advancement in LG’s OLED technology is the transition from a three-layer panel featuring MLA (micro lens array) to a new four-layer panel design. This four-layer configuration includes a separate layer for each primary color—one for red, one for green, and two for blue—in contrast to the previous design, which utilized two layers for blue and a single combined layer for red, green, and yellow. The new G5 incorporates LG's Brightness Booster Ultimate technology across various sizes (55, 65, 77, and 83 inches; the 97-inch version uses Brightness Booster Max), delivering brightness that is three times that of the B series and 45% brighter than the G4 OLED. This improvement applies not only to peak brightness but also to full-field white brightness. During the reviewer workshop, LG showcased the G5 alongside the G4 and two top competitors from the previous year to highlight the G5's brightness enhancements, and the results were quite impressive.

The G5 has received two certifications from UL Solutions: Perfect Black, indicating black levels at or below 0.24 nits up to 500 lux (in-room lighting), and Perfect Color, representing color consistency above 99% at up to 500 lux. These certifications aim to demonstrate consistent performance in both dark and bright viewing conditions.

This year, LG introduces Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation, which operates similarly to other ambient light modes (often recommended to be turned off), but is integrated with a Filmmaker Mode option.

Both the G5 and C5 feature the AI Picture Wizard and AI Sound Wizard, allowing users to tailor their picture and sound settings. The preferences are linked to your login profile via Voice ID and stored in the cloud, enabling you to access your settings on a friend's TV by logging into your account (up to 10 accounts can be logged in simultaneously on each TV).

Additionally, this year sees a redesign of the Magic Remote, which is now smaller, lighter, and features fewer buttons. This new remote is compatible with LG TVs from the last few years.

Pricing for the G5 series (available in March 2025) is as follows:

      - 55-inch LG OLED55G5WUA: $2,499

      - 65-inch LG OLED65G5WUA: $3,399

      - 77-inch LG OLED77G5WUA: $4,499

      - 83-inch LG OLED83G5WUA: $6,499

      - 97-inch LG OLED97G5WUA: $24,999

LG is reverting to its previous stand/wall mount strategy. Unlike last year's G series, the 55- and 65-inch models will not include a table stand and will instead come with a wall mount, as will all sizes in the G series. A table stand will be available for separate purchase, though historically, they have been challenging to find in stock online.

The C5 series (also set for release in March 2025) will come in six sizes:

      - 42-inch LG OLED42C5PUA: $1,399

      - 48-inch LG OLED48C5PUA: $1,599

      - 55-inch LG OLED55C5PUA: $1,999

      - 65-inch LG OLED65C5PUA: $2,699

      - 77-inch LG OLED77C5PUA: $3,699

      - 83-inch LG OLED83C5PUA: $5,399

Customers who purchase a G5 or C5 OLED TV from lg.com before March 30 will receive a complimentary wall mounting or stand setup courtesy of Handy, and they will also be eligible for discounts on select LG soundbars. The available soundbars include the S95TR ($200 off), the SC9S ($200 off), the S90TR ($100 off), the S80TR ($100 off), and the S70TY ($50 off). This soundbar promotion runs until April 6, 2025.
