March has arrived, indicating that not only is 2025 progressing at a surprisingly rapid rate, but we are also nearing the most lucrative season for films and the entertainment industry. With an abundance of content available on both large and small screens, it’s understandable that many exceptional films go unnoticed each year, including some truly inspired and deserving of greater audience recognition.

Therefore, this March presents an ideal chance to step out of your usual film preferences and explore these three hidden treasures, all readily available for streaming. Ranging from adaptations of timeless romantic tales to dramedies featuring one of our beloved friends, these films are perfect for a peaceful afternoon in March while savoring a quiet meal. They might not be award contenders or fan favorites, but that doesn’t diminish their worth.

      Much Ado About Nothing (1993)

      MGM

I challenge you to find a film featuring a cast as captivating as Kenneth Branagh’s 1993 adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. This film boasts a remarkable lineup, including Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves, Robert Sean Leonard, Kate Beckinsale, Michael Keaton, and Branagh himself, and it brings to life the classic story about the scheme to unite two adversaries whose intense animosity inevitably leads to love.

Adaptations of Shakespeare don’t get any more delightful or grand than this one. Branagh’s affection for the material resonates in every scene, and his chemistry with Emma Thompson is extraordinary (they were married at the time, and it certainly shows). While casting Reeves as Don John was an interesting choice, and Keaton’s portrayal of Dogberry is quite quirky, who can resist Washington’s portrayal of Don Pedro or not be charmed by Leonard and Beckinsale’s tender romance? This adaptation is truly one you must see.

Much Ado About Nothing is available for streaming on Tubi.

      Chéri (2009)

      Miramax Films

Three-time Oscar nominee (who should definitely have won) Michelle Pfeiffer shines in Chéri, a period romance based on Colette’s classic novel. Set in early 1900s Paris, the film delves into the romantic relationship between Léa de Lonval (Pfeiffer), a retired courtesan, and Cheri, the 19-year-old son of another courtesan. As they navigate their feelings, their turbulent romance undergoes further challenges.

Visually stunning, Chéri effectively adapts Colette’s work, but the main draw is Michelle Pfeiffer. She delivers a remarkable performance as the stunning and seductive Léa. This role features one of the best performances of her later career, as Pfeiffer skillfully conceals Léa’s insecurities and fears with a façade of detached allure and captivating charm. Though the script of Chéri may not be extraordinary, Pfeiffer alone makes it worth watching.

Chéri is available for streaming on PlutoTV.

      The Good Girl (2002)

      Searchlight Pictures

Jennifer Aniston delivers one of her career-best performances in Miguel Arteta’s 2002 comedy-drama The Good Girl. Written by Mike White, who is currently riding high as the creator of HBO’s The White Lotus, the film portrays Aniston as Justine, a discontented 30-year-old cashier in a small Texas town. Her life takes a turn when she engages in an affair with Holden (Jake Gyllenhaal), a young man grappling with his own hidden troubles.

At its core, The Good Girl is a platform for Jennifer Aniston’s talent. She excels as the dissatisfied Justine, a woman trying to navigate through life while making all the wrong decisions. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including John C. Reilly, Zooey Deschanel, Tim Blake Nelson, and even White himself. A clever and perceptive portrayal of the challenges of small-town existence, The Good Girl is a delightful dramedy that warrants greater recognition.

The Good Girl is available for streaming on Hulu.
